An easy and funny hiking

sunny 26 °C

Just finished the crazy hiking in Tappenkarsee and Glingspitze 4 days ago, this time, we decided to take an easy route for hiking.

The Krahbergzinken is located in Steiermark, near Schladming, a very popular skiing resort in winter. But in summer, also many visitors come to visit here.

But to our surprised, in the Krahbergzinken area, there is a big playing ground for the children. So it made our easy hiking become much more funny and interesting, because we played there and suddenly felt that we were much more younger, hehe!

This small gutter was in front of our parking place, looked so cute.

The third day of our Austrian mountains tour

Tappenkarsee and Glingspitze

sunny 31 °C

Today we got up much more earlier than yesterday, because in this hut, they clean the rooms at 8am everyday, and the breakfast time is 7am-8am, only one hour. Besides, most of the guests like hiking in the early morning, so they do not complain doing everthing so early.

However, We still tired to sleep as longer as possible, unfortunately, at 8am, already could hear the cleaners making big noise, actually they did it on purpose to wake us up, because we were the last two guests still staying in the room, faint!

When we left the room, the breakfast time was already finished, so we had to take breakfast on the way to the Glingspitze.

As for the Glingspitze, it is 2457m, the highest mountain we have climbed so far. But going down the mountain, we did not want to repeat the old route which we climbed up, so we chose another longer route, I mean, we needed climbing 3 more mountains, then could arrive the Tappenkarsee. It sounded a little crazy, during half day, we climbed 4 mountains, wow, almost could not believe, but it was really a truth!

100_9344.jpg

Walking out from the hut, on our left side, we could see the Tappenkarsee in the early morning...

100_9352.jpg

...and on our right side, we could see the Glingspitze with a sharp peak.

100_9356.jpg

A broken wood bridge, looked like was damaged by the thunderstorm.

100_9368.jpg

Before going up to the Glingspitze, we took the breakfast first on this big rock.

100_9370.jpg

This mountain is in front of us, it connects with the Glingspitze. After reaching the Glingspitze, we would hike through there.

100_9371.jpg

Here is another side of the Glingspitze. We would go up to the Glingspitze from here.

100_9380.jpg

After finishing the breakfast, we continued hiking. There are too many creeks here, no wonder the mountains in this area are very green.

100_9388.jpg

100_9396.jpg

100_9399.jpg

Look at my honey's heavy bag, can you guess how much weight is it?

100_9405.jpg

Here there are not only many cows, but also some horses.

100_9413.jpg

100_9431.jpg

100_9428.jpg

100_9435.jpg

Carrying such a heavy bag, I almost could not keep my back straight all the times, walking liked an old woman, hehe.

100_9443.jpg

The higher mountain we reached, the more wild flowers we could find. In this mountain, there are many different beautiful wild flowers.

100_9445.jpg

100_9430.jpg

100_9447.jpg

100_9448.jpg

100_9449.jpg

100_9457.jpg

100_9460.jpg

100_9452.jpg

Because I was busying on taking pictures for those wild flowers, my honey reached the top of Glingspitze first.

100_9463.jpg

We were taking lunch there.

100_9466.jpg

Nice top of the mountian, but the pity thing was that there were too many flies and other different insects, too bad...

100_9454.jpg

...but the landscapes surround the Glingspitze were really very beautiful.

100_9468.jpg

100_9470.jpg

100_9480.jpg

Now we began to go down the Glingspitze, and continued hiking other 3 mountains.

100_9484.jpg

We could see the Tappenkarsee again! Acutually, it was still very far from here, although it looked like very close to us.

100_9488.jpg

It is the most dangerous part of the route, very steep, and this kind of stones are very easy to be broken, if not be careful, people will fall down easily.

100_9494.jpg

100_9506.jpg

100_9503.jpg

The Tappenkarsee was more and more closer to us.

100_9515.jpg

Looking back, we had already passed such a long route. Cool!

100_9520.jpg

On the way to the Tappenkarsee, we heard the marmot's voice, but could not see them. Suddenly, my honey found a cave of marmot, but it was empty, the marmot already came out before we reached there.

100_9522.jpg

My honey used the panorama function to take this picture, just wanted to try to show the whole route we hiked, from the left side to the right side, actually still had some parts of the routes were not in this picture, because it was too difficult to take all of them.

100_9529.jpg

Now we could see the Tappenkarsee clearly.

100_9535.jpg

Looking at the Tappenkarsee, the feeling was so nice, not only because of the beautiful view, but also because of already finishing the most toughest route of this hiking tour.

100_9540.jpg

100_9546.jpg

100_9547.jpg

100_9553.jpg

Now we decided to have a rest beside the lake, because we felt so tired.

100_9554.jpg

100_9577.jpg

100_9549.jpg

100_9582.jpg

Haha, let my hiking shoes draw a full shop for this 3-day Austrian mountains tour.

The second day of our Austrian mountains tour

Heiligenblut, Grossglockner House, Edelweissspitze and Tappenkarsee.

sunny 32 °C

We got up in the early morning, because today we had many places to visit.

After taking the breakfast, we drove to the train station. We needed taking a special train to Kärnten. Actually it is not so far from Bad Gastein to Heiligenblut, but there is only one big tunnel connecting these two places, so only taking the train can reach the destination. As for the special train, one part is for the passengers, and another part is for the cars, very interesting.

100_8923.jpg

...now I could get in the car.

100_8930.jpg

Driving out from the train station, it took us about 45 minutes to arrive in Heiligenblut. It is a small village, but why it is so famous and popular? Because in this village, people can see the highest mountain in Austria, Grossglockner (3798m).

In this picture, you can see the Grossglockner surrounded by a few clouds.

In Heiligenblut, almost all the souvenir shops are selling the marmot toys.

100_9036.jpg

In the middle of the road, we found a nice waterfall, then stopped and took some pictures with it.

100_9037.jpg

100_9038.jpg

During the peak time for traveling, there are not available parking places in the Grossglockner House, so we had to park our car on the roadside, and then took the bus.

In this picture, the tunnel on the mountain was the right one which we passed through by bus.

We had to say good-bye to Edelweissspitze in the Grossglockner-region, and continued our way to the Tappenkarsee, where we parked our car.

100_9251.jpg

Before arrived the hut, we needed hiking for about 2 hours. So we changed the hiking shoes, and carried the food, water, clothes and other things as much as possible. That was the reason why our bags were very heavy.

Although I was already very tired, looking at such beautiful wild flowers, I still did not forget to take a picture for them.

Now the road became flat, and we could see the Tappenkarsee, so suddenly I was very happy, and full of energy again, haha!

The first day of our Austrian mountains tour

Bad Gastein

sunny 29 °C

For our 3-day Austrian mountains tour, the original plan is to Tappenkarsee (Salzberg) for hiking, and stay in a small hut for one night. On the second day climb the Glingspitze (2457m), then go to Bad Gastein and stay in the hotel for one night. On the third day go to Heiligenblut (Kärnten) to see the Grossglockner (the highest mountian in Austria, 3798m) and go back home.

But the hut in Tappenkarsee was already reserved fully, only tomorrow would have a free room for us, So we had to change another plan, and went to visit Bad Gastein town first.

The highest mountain we had been so far!

sunny 22 °C

On the first day of July, we chose Nazogl for hiking. This mountian is located in Steiermark. It was the highest mountain we had been so far.

The height of Nazogl is 2057m, but when people climb down it, need go through another aside mountian to go down, it is higher than the Nazogl, so totally height is 2100m.

100_8321.jpg

The first peak that we climbed is the "Nazogl", which is the peak slightly left off the middle of this picture.

100_8325.jpg

100_8332.jpg

After parking, my honey used the GPS to search for the right way to the mountain.

100_8337.jpg

100_8339.jpg

100_8340.jpg

The first part of our climb was only moderately steep, leading through an "Alm" area with some huts.

Some of those huts are used for farming cows, others for selling food and drinks to the tourists, and a few can be rent by tourists.

100_8343.jpg

100_8344.jpg

In Austria, you can find many old people hiking or taking some other outdoor sports.

In the picture, I was looking at the map of this hiking area. There are many different height mountains, Nazogl is just the one of them.

100_8346.jpg

100_8350.jpg

There were many cows in this hiking area.

100_8352.jpg

This cow seemed like feeling itching somewhere, so it used its body to rub the woods.

100_8354.jpg

There were many more cows in front of us.

100_8355.jpg

Now we reached the foot of Nazogl. The yellow guideposts show us different routes to different mountains.

100_8358.jpg

100_8369.jpg

My honey likes climbing rocks so much, even this kind of small rock at the foot of Nazogl, he also wanted to climb.

100_8372.jpg

100_8378.jpg

100_8392.jpg

Now we reached a forest, there were many fallen trees blocking the route.

100_8395.jpg

Maybe after 2 hours, I felt a little bit tired, and began hiking slower...

100_8398.jpg

...and then had a rest to see the nice landscape around.

100_8407.jpg

Another fallen tree again! At that time, my honey asked me to be careful, because there was some turpentine on it...

100_8409.jpg

...but I still got the turpentine on my hands, too careless!

100_8419.jpg

Look, my back was so sweaty!

100_8423.jpg

100_8430.jpg

100_8432.jpg

100_8442.jpg

We climbed higher and higher, now not far from the top anymore.

100_8445.jpg

100_8447.jpg

100_8453.jpg

It took us about 3 hours to reach the top of mountain.

100_8457.jpg

100_8462.jpg

I was very happy to reach the top.

100_8463.jpg

Our lunch: bread with salmom, vegetables and fuit.

100_8466.jpg

100_8472.jpg

On the top of mountain, it was very cold and windy, so we had to wear the outdoor jackets.

100_8476.jpg

100_8480.jpg

Usually on the top of each mountain in Austria, there is a box beside the cross. In the box, there is a book and a pen, people can use them to sign their names and write down everything what they want to say.

In this picture, I was trying to open the iron box, but it was too tight.

100_8483.jpg

Oh my God, poor Karen! I almost exerted all of my strength to open the box, but still could not!

100_8484.jpg

So later I had to ask my honey to help me. Obviously he was much more stronger than me, and easy to open the box...

100_8486.jpg

...and then he began to write something...

100_8493.jpg

...after finished writing, he put them back into the box...

100_8495.jpg

...and closed it.

100_8497.jpg

Before leaving the top of mountian, we took some pictures for the beautiful landscape around.

100_8499.jpg

100_8500.jpg

100_8504.jpg

Now we were going down the mountain.

100_8507.jpg

There were many different wild flowers...

100_8547.jpg

100_8548.jpg

100_8509.jpg

100_8511.jpg

...and many strange rock formations.

100_8512.jpg

100_8540.jpg

These rocks are shaped by water, ie rain.

It will pour down the rocks, and slowly dissolve the surface of these type of rocks and more and more engrave the rocks with strange patterns.

100_8515.jpg

100_8514.jpg

100_8522.jpg

100_8526.jpg

The longer we went down again, the more the rocks were replaced by plants and forest...

100_8562.jpg

...until we finally reached the "civilization" again...

100_8570.jpg

...and were welcomed by this cute cow, watching us interestingly.

100_8577a.jpg

From this picture, you could see clearly the route we had hiked.

The red route means climbing up, the green route means going down, and the blue cross means the top of Nazogl.

100_8579.jpg

I felt so proud when we came back to our car, but I almost could not believe that I could reach such a high mountain in my life, liked dreaming!

My honey said that we would climb higher and higher in the future, it could be much more interesting. Oh my God……
