The tour in Vienna (2)
Belvedere Castle and Danube Tower
23.02.2008 15 °C
Today the weather was pretty nice, sunny and warm, just only a little windy.
After taking the breakfast, we went to visit the Belvedere. It was not far away from our hotel, so we walked there.
We started visiting from the Lower Belvedere.
Now we were in the entrance of the Lower Belvedere. It was also a small shop, which selling some souvenirs about the Belvedere.
Passing through the entrance shop, we entered a big marble hall.
Next to the marble hall, it was a splendent and magnificent hall. It looked much more nicer than the marble one.
It is also called the "Golden Room".
After visiting the halls, we came to a small private garden, but now it was winter, so the garden looked very empty.
Now we came to a gallery, at the begining, we did not know that photography was not allowed here, after taking two pictures, we were told that it was forbidden, so we could not take any more.
The pictures there were all about mediaeval art.
After visiting the gallery, we came back to the small private garden again, and walked around.
This is the main entrance hall of Lower Belvedere.
There is also a Museum of Baroque's Art and there are also a lot of works mostly Austrian artists of the 19th/20th century.
Belvedere was built for the Prinz Eugen who was the most famous commander military in Austrian's history.
He repeatedly defeated the Turks and French which it made it possible that Austria became a big power at his time.
It was the building of the museum.
We sat down to have a rest.
Now we were on the way to the Upper Belvedere.
It is the buliding of the Upper Belvedere.
Back of my honey, it was a big park of Upper Belvedere. It should be very beautiful, but in winter, we only could see the pond without water.
At the entrance of the Upper Belvedere, you could find many statues.
In the Upper Belvedere you could visit the gallery with a collection of 19th- and 20th-century Austrian paintings.
Here was the entrance of the gallery.
There were many beautiful paintings in the gallery, but photograph was not allowed, so we had to take some pictures of the hall.
Through the window of the hall, we could see the big park of the Upper Belvedere.
Now we had already finished visiting the whole Belvedere, and took some more pictures for the last time.
Good-bye, beautiful Belvedere!
After visiting the Belvedere, it was already about 2pm, we still did not take the lunch, so we went to a restaurant directly.
The food in this restaurant was not so bad.
After eating, I was too tired, and could not continue the sightseeing, then we went back to the hotel to have a sleep, and saved more energy for tonight, because we had an appointment with my friend Dannie.
Dannie is pregnant too, but 5 weeks more than me, now it is 33 weeks. Before we came to Vienna, she recommended us to eat famous spareribs, so we made the appointment to take dinner together with our husbands (actually her husband's cousin also came with them).
The dinner was very delicious, but my honey and me were not very hungry, because we just finished lunch 4 hours before. Finally we had to ask the waiter to pack the remaining food and took it back to the hotel.
After the dinner, we invited Dannie, her husband and his cousin to visit the Donauturm together. They were very happy to go with us, because they had never been there too, and really wanted to see the beautiful night scenery of Vienna in the revolving restaurant.
This is the famous Donauturm, but taking the picture from the foot of it could not see any special.
The Donauturm is 270 meters high. Our restaurant was a little more than halfway to the very top.
The night scenery of Vienna, but the pictures looked a little blur.
Tonight the moon was very bright and round.
Now we were sitting in the revolving restaurant to take some drinking.
From left to right: Dannie, her husband's cousin and me.
My honey and me.

Two pregnant women, hehe!
